My writing practice has evolved significantly over the past few years. Up until 2019 i was an active music journalist, writing regularly for Bandcamp Daily, Tiny Mix Tapes, FACT Mag, Loud & Quiet and other music/culture magazines.

Currently, I am more focused on various types of commissions, ranging from longform, larger volume projects (writing copy for festivals) to short texts with quick turnaround times (artist bios, blurbs or liner notes). I also write a newsletter about music from Central and Eastern Europe called ‘Táto Strana Európy

For rates, turnaround times and any other information, please contact me via email.

Táto Strana Európy

Táto Strana Európy (This Side of Europe) is my newsletter hosted on Substack. It’s dedicated to covering music by artists from the Central and Eastern European region. The newsletter is written in English, published ~monthly, and includes write-ups, other recommendations, label profiles, highlights significant reissues and more.

NEXT Festival 2021 & 2022

I wrote all the accompanying texts used across the festival’s website, social media accounts and other promotion channels, in both Slovak and English. This included artist & performance descriptions, as well as blurbs about panel discussions and festival guests.

During the 2022 edition, I was also in charge of the symposium / discussion programming along with Slavo Krekovic, the festival director. Our guests included Agata Pyzik, Olga Bekenshtein, Lucia Udvaryová, Mary C, Moises Horta Valenzuela and Andreas Dzialocha, among others.

UNSEEN 2021

“UNSEEN is an online platform and web archive that presents different approaches to listening and cultivating the relationship between our bodies, space and sound. It is loosely based on Pauline Oliveros' practice of deep listening, which it updates through the perspectives of selected artists.”

For the pilot series of UNSEEN I was commissioned to write commentaries on several “deep listening” exercises, manuals, works or performances created for this platform by a wide variety of contemporary artists. The approaches ranged from listening techniques to radical vocalisation to contemporary dance/movement to abstract, generated text prompts. All my commentaries are available on the UNSEEN website.
